"The Friends at The Ohio State University Wexner Burn Center present the 4th annual Blaze the Trail 5K/ Family Fun 1 mile fun walk. Our mission is promoting burn prevention awareness to The Ohio State University population, community and to raise money to benefit The Ohio State University Wexner Burn Center Development Fund. Proceeds from this event will benefit our burn survivors and families by assisting with purchase of dressing supplies, pressure garments, and community re-entry resources. The Wexner Center Burn Center Development Fund also helps sponsor our annual Family Burn Camp, monthly support groups, and continued education for the Burn Center staff. "

What is the money going to??:
  • Provides patients with dressing supplies for caring for their burns at home.
  • Annual Burn Survivor Family Camp.
  • Garments, wigs, food, clothing, housing for burn patients and families.
  • Provides burn prevention educational information to the community, with the nurses and staff working specifically with the children and families at teen clinic, schools, and local fire stations. The staff has worked with OSU Student Affairs and the Columbus Division of Fire to educate the OSU students both on and off campus. This has included Smoke Outs for the Greek organizations, a Welcome Week for incoming OSU freshman and a Burn Prevention Display for OSU students in February.
  • Development of a grease fire prevention campaign.
  • Enhancing staff performance and patient rehabilitation through the use of speaker programs and specialized burn care conferences and educational opportunities.
  • Provides funding for the SOAR (Survivor Offering Assistance in Recovery) Program.

  • Kids Registration (12&under): $10 now through April 6th. $15, April 7th through race day.
  • OSU Students: $15 now through April 6th, $20 April 7th through race day.
  • NON-OSU/Adults: $30 now through April 6th, $35 April 7th through race day.
  • 1 Mile Fun Walk: $30 now through April 6th, $35 April 7th through race day.

  • The names of the first 100 people registered, will be put into a drawing to win prizes/ gift baskets!
  • The first 300 people registered will receive a new design technical race shirt!!
