About the Sprint for the Superstars 5k

 

 

The mission of Northwest Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the Dublin/Hilliard school system.  This training and competition offer the athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of talents and friendships with their families, friends, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
 
Northwest Special Olympics was started in November 1987 with our first basketball skills program.  We now currently offer twelve sports year round to over 125 athletes.  We are a non-profit organization and there is no participation fee for our athletes to be involved in our Special Olympics program.  Northwest Special Olympics covers the cost of uniforms, team equipment, and other expenses associated with training our athletes.  As a non-profit organization, various fundraisers are used to generate the funds that enable us to pay for these expenses to help cover the annual $250 per athlete cost.


Please join us for our first annual walk/run fundraiser...we are looking forward to many participants coming out and joining us!  This fundraiser was started to give our athletes a chance to participate and help with an event and to also offer the community a chance to learn more about us and meet some of our Special Olympics Athletes.


Registration is very simple using this website created by Premier Sports.  We encourage you to let your friends and families know as well...the more people that come out the better.  There will be many athletes who will be joining us that day so you can meet our Superstars first hand!

    • 1 Mile Walk $20
    • Northwest Special Olympics Athlete $10 for either the 5k or 1 Mile
