About Directions for Youth and Families Taking Strides for Kids 5k

Join us for the 2nd annual Taking Strides for Kids 5k Run/Walk at Gahanna’s Creekside Park & Plaza along the beautiful Big Walnut Creek and make a difference in the lives of children in your community! Through your participation, you’ll be supporting programs that help at risk youth achieve success.
Your support will provide after-school activities at the Short Stop and Ohio Avenue Youth Centers. Kids who have few opportunities elsewhere benefit from homework help, computer lab, creative and performing arts, and fitness and nutrition programs. After-school and summer programs reinforce staying in school, help with academics, promote leadership development and discipline, and provide time for creative and healthful activities.

Over 6,600 youth and their families are served annually. Most are at risk and low income.
Funding is from charitable contributions, governmental sources, United Way, corporations, foundations, and individual contributions. 92% of all funding goes to program costs.
