Equipment Checklist
With school starting and the fall race season underway, including cross country, it’s very easy to become harried and to end up forgetting to bring proper equipment to your race. Nothing is worse than spending weeks training only to forget your shoes or other items on race day.
An efficient way to avoid this mistake is the use of an equipment check list.
Feel free to copy or print the following for your use or if you coach, to hand this out to your athletes:
Equipment Checklist:
- Racing shoes
- A second pair of dry shoes for wet conditions
- Two pairs of socks
- Uniform (shorts & singlet)
- Sweats (preferably two pairs of sweat shirts and bottoms or tights for cold weather, an extra t-shirt or long sleeve shirt for warmer conditions)
- Hat and gloves (for cold weather)
- Raingear
- Sunscreen
- Anti-chafing cream (or can use sunscreen too)
- Sunglasses
- Watch (preferably water resistant with stopwatch mode)
- Plastic water bottle with 16 ounces of water
- Extra safety pins for number
- Plastic bag for wet clothes
- First aid kit
- Any Medications you need
- Medication for bee stings
- ID to wear especially if you are traveling alone to a race
Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the race start to allow plenty of time to check in and warm up. With proper training and equipment, you are ready for a great race. Good luck and don’t forget to check premierraces.com race schedule for lots of great races this fall. See you on the roads.
