Event InformationThe Gary Smith Worthington Classic honors Gary Smith who was a teacher in the Worthington School District for 30 years, and a track/cross country coach at Thomas Worthington High School. He was an English teacher and also taught students in the Occupational Work Adjustment Program. As both a teacher and coach, Gary made a lasting contribution to the youth in the community. He died in June of 1998 after waging a courageous five-month battle against cancer. He faced the challenge of his personal race in the saem fashion as he advised his athletes, "Run as hard as you can ... then let your heart take you the rest of the way." Registration and Packet Pick-UpEarly packet pick-up begins on April 26, at Fleet Feet Sports (1174 E. Powell Rd - approx. 1 mile west of the Polaris Mall). This will close on May 2 at 5:00 pm. Race day registration and packet pick-up begin on May 4 at 7:30 am, at Thomas Worthington High School. Both the 5 Mile Run/Walk and the 3 Mile Walk begin at 8:30 am. Awards - Presented By Fleet Feet Sports!Top 3 overall (male/female), and top 3 in each age group (male/female): Entry fee5 Mile Run/Walk before April 28: $25 (fee is $30 on or after April 28) 3 Mile Walk: $10 per walker with a maximum of $30 per family of walkers Event shirt included for the first 500 registrants.
