Do you dream of living in a city with clean air, clean water and manageable solid waste? Are you interested in Green energy? Are you dreaming about a healthier lifestyle? Are you interested in community events and supporting school programs?

If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions then the DreamGreen 5k is for you!

Event Information

The Race – DreamGreen 5k 2008 run/walk will bring people to the Central Ohio area to celebrate fitness and to support environmental sustainability. Race participants will start at NetJets and parallel the airport tarmacs for 1.55 miles, before turning around (at the awesome aide station) and heading back to NetJets.

The Expo – From 6 to 9 p.m., participants and spectators will enjoy music and post race organic snacks. While you’re munching on snacks, take a walk around the expo to learn about how local non-profit environmental organizations, governmental agencies, private businesses and wildlife programs are turning their green dreams into reality. Visit the various booths to learn about how you can contribute to cleaner air, cleaner water and manageable solid waste. Learn about Green energy programs, carbon offsets and sustainable environmental practices. Learn more about how you can maintain a healthy lifestyle through exercise and clean eating.

Children and families are encouraged to come to this event too!

Charitable Cause - Participants and spectators can “be Green” by bringing gently used school supply donations (pens, pencils, highlighters, paper, notebooks, folders, binders, glue, art supplies and etc.) to the starting line. These donations will be presented to The Waste Not Center (a signature program of the Central Ohio Sustainability Alliance). The Waste Not Center receives items (that would otherwise be discarded) from businesses and individuals and makes these items available to teachers and local artists.

This program helps reduce the burden on local solid waste disposal systems. Instead of putting school or office supplies in the trash, bring them to the DreamGreen 5k and The Waste Not Center will turn one person’s trash into another’s treasure! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

When & Where - The DreamGreen 5k event will take place on Friday, August 15, 2008. It will be begin in the parking lot of the NetJets Facility at 7:30 p.m.

Special Information - The top 3 male and female finishers in each category will receive a special award! We’ll be giving out all sorts of great prizes throughout the race; so you don’t necessarily need to be a speedster to win a cool prize!

Onsite recycling will be available for water bottles and aide station cups. The DreamGreen 5k 2008 will be carbon neutral (carbon emissions associated with travel to and from the event, along with onsite electrical use will be offset).

If Mother Nature decides to rain on us, we’ll run anyhow. If lightning strikes, we’ll probably take that as a cue to stay safely inside.

Race Packets and Registration - Each participant will receive an organic cotton event t-shirt, goodie bag and organic post race food/beverage. Registration fee is $20 prior to August 1; $25 after August 1. Register online (link at top of page) or download brochure and mail registration form or register in person at pre-race packet pickup. It will be great if you can register online (to save the paper) but we’ll recycle all hard copy registration forms.
