About Band on the Run

August 1, 2010 will start off with a bang.  The bang will be the starting pistol for the “Band On the Run 5K Run/Walk,” which will be timed by Premier Sports out of Columbus, Ohio. The start and finish of the race will be in the high school's stadium. There will be plenty of seats for spectators, so don't forget to bring your own cheering section.

Following the race will be family oriented, fun filled events, and entertainment.  There will be games, music, vendors, raffles, and as many more activities as we can fit into a single day.

Many prizes will be raffled off.  We have gift certificates to local businesses, such as The Red Onion, Lone Star Steakhouse, Olive Garden, and Target.  You can win free games at Eastern Bowling Lanes as well as Monster Mini Golf in West Chester.  Pierson Automotive has donated four oil changes for our raffle to keep your car in good shape.  There will be at least one cash prize. The amount will be determined the day of the event and will depend on how many raffle tickets are sold.

Game tickets can be used two ways.  All game tickets can be used both as raffle tickets and game tickets.  If you do not want to play games, you can just place the tickets in the raffle box.  If you want to play games, use the tickets for you enjoyment at games like the duck pond, hole in one, beanbag toss, Nerf Gun Target Shoot, and others. Any tickets that are used for games will also be placed in the raffle box before the drawings take place.  Anyone who plays games will also have the opportunity to receive “winner” tickets that can be used to redeem for prizes in the prize booth. Carnival games will start at 8:00 am and continue to the end of the event at 2:00pm. Game tickets can also be used to enter the “kids” contests.  After the 5K, there will be races on the track, soccer goal contest, field goal kicking contest, and a baseball throwing contest.  These contests will begin at 10:00am

As you can see, you do not need to be a runner to enjoy the Band On the Run 5K Event.  There will be a little something for everyone to enjoy.

The goal for the families and friends is fun.  The goal for the Monroe Bands is to raise funds for new marching band uniforms, uniform accessories, music, contest fees, equipment, etc.

    • Packet pick up will be at check in the morning of the run/walk.  Check in begins at 7:45am.

    • Appearance by former Cincinnati Bengal football player (around 9:00-11:00am)
    • Kids' races will follow the 5K (10:00am)
    • Martial Arts Demonstration by Buckner Martial Arts (12:30pm)
